Spitfire Camera installations

Spitfire PR 1A camera layout This diagram shows the layout of the first PR Spitfire the PR 1A layout (see image below) Spitfire PR 1E camera layout
A low level forward facing oblique. This setup was found in the PR 1E. Only one aircraft was ever converted to this layout
Spitfire PR XI camera layout This diagrams shows the layout of the two F52 cameras within a PR XI (this was one of a number of camera layouts this aircraft could carry)  X type camera installation This installation was label 'X' type and could be fitted to a PR 1D & PR IV
Wing camera installation for a PR IX This installation shows a wing camera assembly as fitted to PR IX  PR 1G (PR VII) camera installation This installation was fitted to the PR 1G (later called PR VII). With this fit, the pilot could secure imagery between 500 or 10,000 feet. Also this Mk was the first PR Spitfire to retain it's 8 machine guns.
